local and gathering plants
suitable for dyeing.

Beginning Hand Build Pottery -
Make Your Own Period Bowl
We will learn about the clay and
how it works and will be making
a basic pinch pot/small bowl in
the first session.

Class Limit: This class is for a
youth and a parent to take
together.  Adults may take the
class without a child if there is
room. Children and parents will
be given first choice. Class will
be limited to 5 children, age 7
and up, and 5 adults or a total of
10 people.

Introduction to Naalbinding

full skein of wool, needle (if you
need one), and handout

Weave a pouch in the Round
Students will learn how to warp
up a small hand loom
and weave a pouch in the round.

Silk Banner Painting - Learn the
Methodology

This is a class for people who
have never felted before. We will
make a small project.

Learning to Dye: Basics and
Beyond
This class is for both the
beginner and the more
experienced dyer. The colors of
red, blue and yellow will be
explored using alum and iron
mordants. Time permitting
overdying to get orange, green
and purple will also be explored.

Bayeux Stitch Embroidery -
come learn this versatile
couching method

Bring an 6-8" embroidery hoop
and thread scissors if you have
them. Some will be available for
loan.
Working with Fur
Teacher: Johanna Ludiwiger

Bring: 1 gallon water (spring
water - without minerals) and a
clean dish washing container
or a plastic bucket - if you can.
Students should tie back their
hair and bring a waterproof
apron, wear sunblock, sleeves
that can be rolled up or pinned
back and wear shoes that can
be dripped on.
If you have their own natural
wool or silk fiber yarn to dye,
bring it. It can be commercial
yarn or hand-made. White or
light-colored silk scarves are
also welcome.

Look at period art and then fit
one person for a pair of
Landsknecht leather pants.
Hand out on how/what to do
with the pattern once you have it

the A&S class area for a Solar from 2 pm to 4ish. Bring whatever project, in whatever
non-destructive medium, you are working on and your chair. This is a time to relax, work
on your current project, and meet other artisans. Advice on embroidery is available for
the asking, so do take advantage of the time to ask that long unanswered question
